Start your day with grace.

Hallelujah, thank goodness I am saved by His grace!

All I need is a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus! Sometimes a whole lot of coffee…

I need routines. I need schedules. I need structure. So, most every morning I start my morning with my skin care routine and what our pastor at church calls the “First Fifteen”.

The First Fifteen:

5 minutes of prayer

5 minutes of worship

5 minutes in the word (AKA the Bible)

I know what you are all thinking… “An extra 15 minutes to add to my routine? No way.” “I don’t have the time.” “I’m not a morning person.” Well, sorry friends you’re wrong. You DO have time. Make the time. Even five-ten minutes. You can do it! I usually wake up cranky, hangry, and weighed down with the thoughts of everything I need to do that day. When I commit to my routine every morning, it is amazing how being alone with God can improve your mood and overall day.  It relieves my stress and helps me focus on right NOW.

I want to share the resources I use and some of my favorite worship music right now. I mix it all and change it up. I don’t stick straight to five minutes in each area. One devotional book I love to read each morning is “Jesus Calling – Enjoying Peace in His Presence” by Sarah Young. Each day has a specific devotional along with bible verses. Let me tell you, it’s wild how more times than not they directly relate to something you’re dealing with that week/day. I read it, then I flip to the verses in my bible and underline and jot down small notes next to them. If you’re like me and have a hard time comprehending the bible just by reading it, this is a great resource to put them into everyday terms/situations.

I also love Craving God Ministries articles. Craving God Ministries is a group of amazing ladies who write some very helpful/ inspiring articles. You can sign up for their newsletter and get each post sent directly to your inbox! For example, one of their posts I reread a lot is “Seeing God and His Ways in Everything”. Kristen Love discusses four lessons God taught her through her dog. Being a dog lover, I absolutely love it. She discusses living in the present, how to ask God for things,  how to keep your eyes on God, and practicing gratitude towards God. They always include verses throughout and I underline them and jot down notes or artwork next to them in my Bible, just like with my devotionals.img_0043

I combine my prayer/worship time. I turn on my Spotify playlist and start my prayer time. I always begin by thanking God. I don’t know about you, but I have been blessed beyond measures and have SO much to be thankful for. All glory be to Him! Then I just talk to Him. I pray for others, for guidance in all areas of life, etc. When I’m done I’ll usually belt out a couple of songs. Thank goodness this is alone, because my voice could shatter glass windows. Ha!

Here are some of my favorite worship songs currently:

Here I Surrender – Highlands Worship

The Lion and The Lamb – Big Daddy Weave

Everything is Mine in You – Christy Nockles

Priceless – for KING & COUNTRY

Grace Wins – Matthew West

How Can It Be – Lauren Daigle

This I Believe (The Creed) – Hillsong Worship

How do you spend time with the Lord? What resources do you suggest? I would love to know! I hope this has helped or inspired you. I would also suggest maybe start just turning on worship music while you’re getting ready if you want to start incorporating this and feel short on time.

Embrace today, embrace grace.

    1. Thanks love! I used to feel weird pray out loud, but I do that in the car now as well! It’s crazy how when I pray out loud all of these prayer requests I don’t think I normally would have in my head immediately for others and my self start flying. The Holy Spirit moves in weird ways! 😘
