The Best Day Ever

Ah, since #weddingwednesday is now a thing on Instagram.. I wanted to share our big day!  We went the non-traditional route with a destination wedding. Let me tell you brides that are on the fence about it – DO IT! I wouldn’t change a thing about our decision.

For our destination we chose Sedona, AZ. This decision came about in a crazy way and long story short I knew I wanted to get married in a mountain or rock setting (we used to live in Colorado and I am still obsessed with those views) and I fell in love with this elopement at Horseshoe Bend. Well to my surprise it would be very difficult to plan something at Horseshoe Bend all the way from Alabama considering this gorgeous couple lived close by and brought their own minister etc., so the search began.

Next stop, Grand Canyon. What an amazing place, who wouldn’t want to get married there? Well, they were offering a brown bag lunch for your wedding party and could not stop tourists from being part of your ceremony. Uh, next please no brown bag lunches at my wedding. I discovered Sedona on a Pinterest search of Arizona. Pictures were absolutely amazing. Through another search on WeddingWire I discovered an amazing wedding coordinating service, Weddings in Sedona. Alexandra immediately answered the phone and was so joyful and eager to help and answer all of my questions. After dealing with too many rude people in our search for the perfect venue, I was automatically sold.

Weddings in Sedona (check out there reviews here) does it all for you #score. It was seriously stress free. I can’t sing their praises enough. They gave me options on photographers, set up a videographer, ordered flowers based off pictures I sent them of things I liked, booked a musician, booked the venue, booked the minister, set up the timeline for the entire wedding day… I can keep going on and on. A one stop shop! I highly recommend using them if you are looking to get hitched in Sedona. Thank you Susan and Alexandra! Y’all rock.

The Weekend:

We decided to bring 17 people total, including us. It was the BEST! Our parents and siblings, my brother-in-law, niece & nephew, and some of our closest friends from all different stages of our lives. Without them we wouldn’t be who we are today and our wedding weekend would not have been near as amazing or have even happened. THANK YOU to all of you especially our parents!

We spent the weekend exploring Sedona. The guys golfed, the girls had a spa day, we all took a hummer tour thanks to Sedona Offroad Adventures (DO THIS!!! I can’t remember our guides name, but he was a ton of fun and the views were awesome), hung out by the pool, and had some amazing food. My favorite meal was our wedding day breakfast at L’Auberge. It was creek side dining and the most serene environment. Amazing food, amazing service, and amazing views. 10/10.

On our wedding day, I found our hair and makeup artist through Instagram. Can we just take a moment to thank the lord for social media in times like this?! Ha ha. My whole wedding happened thanks to searches on Instagram, Pinterest, and the Knot.  Makeup Artistry by Natalie made us feel like beauty queens. She was the sweetest and is so so talented. I can be very picky about my makeup and I think it is the first time I haven’t ran to the bathroom to add more of something or take something off after getting it done. She travels all around AZ, so make sure and check her out!

I am obsessed with our wedding video. You can watch it here or the teaser here. Thank you Everlasting Cinema! I cry everytime I watch us say our vows. I cannot stress how much I encourage couples to write your own vows. They are so special. Side note: I was so anxious that mine would be too short, too long, too much humor added in, or not sweet enough compared to his. LOL I think we both did pretty good!

Post-wedding, we had a mini celebration at Gerado’s. OH MY LANTA. No words. They went above and beyond for us. I called them a month or so before and the owner and chef his self talked to me to make a special menu. We had salads, flat breads, pasta entrees, pizzas, and cannolis. They also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine! We plan to open on our one year anniversary!

At the end of the day, I can’t imagine sharing our day with 100’s of people. Having an intimate setting was perfect for us and a day I will never forget. God is so good!!! If you can’t tell from the pure joy on our faces.

We did have a reception a couple of weeks later with all of our other friends and family that was a blast! I’ll share it soon.
